Beach and Forest

The Island of Usedom – Germany’s second largest island – is one of the most sun-kissed regions of the country. It also has the status of a “nature park”.

The great outdoors

Trassenheide is situated in the north-western part of the island. It is protected by a small peninsula, and is situated between the dunes and an old pine forest. Trassenheide is one of the smallest seaside resorts on the Isle of Usedom – tranquil, just like the surrounding landscape. The hinterland is characterised by vast meadows, moor and heathland. Fascinating wild-life and flora invite nature lovers to mini-expeditions: beach asters, beach thistles, berries, mushrooms, skylarks, grey herons and, last not least, the nearly extinct white-tailed eagle bear testimony to an intact nature.

the finest and smoothest beach

The “jewel”, however, is undoubtedly the very wide beach. No groynes, no rocks, only four kilometres (2.5 miles) of the finest and smoothest beach is waiting for you. Have a great time swimming, doing sports or just lazing around! The character and the quality of the water is exceptional and has been confirmed by frequent tests of independent organisations such as the German Automobile Club (ADAC) and others. The tests followed the guidelines established by the European Union and results were always: perfect to bathe and swim. Especially for families with small children, the broad shallow water allows for risk-free fun. Extensive walks on the beach at all times of the year, but particularly during the cold season, revitalises. The healthy sea climate offers relief from chronic illnesses of the respiratory tract or the skin.
